Known as The Steel City, Jamshedpur is the Industrialized City of Jharkhand State.

Jamshedpur is a well planned industrial city surrounded by the Dalma Hills.  Housing many well known companies within its borders, Jamshedpur is home to one of the largest industrial belts in India.  Even more impressive it has the reputation of being one of the cleanest and greenest cities in India.

Industrial Jamshedpur

Home to the first private iron and steel company in India really helped to put Jamshedpur on the map.  It’s the sixth largest company of such in the world and Jamshedpur is even commonly called Tata Nagar due to the company’s significant presence in the city.

Iron ore, coal, manganese, bauxite, and lime can all be found surrounding the city and clearly are put to good use with the main industries in the city being Iron and Steel, which in turn helps to produce trucks, tinplate, cement and many other small and medium scale industrial businesses.

Clean and Green Jamshedpur

Declared the seventh cleanest city in India is no small feat.  Especially considering it is an industrialized city and rapidly growing.  This city has proved that beyond a doubt the progress of enterprise, the welfare of the people and the environmental health does not have to be compromised in a large city.

It is not only Jamshedpur’s Greenery friendly parks and cityscape that have helped propel the city into a cleaner environment, but the city’s leadership has fought to install recycling plants to save on water and treatment plants to keep the rivers sparkling.  The efforts of several people to raise the consciousness and concern among the residents have paid off, and of course the new environment management division oversees all these facilities and activities to make sure that they are keeping in with the city’s sustainability development plan.

Tourism in Jamshedpur                                                        

The Tata Steel works are the very foundation of Jamshedpur and no visit to the Jamshedpur would be complete without visiting this organization.  They have also gifted various places of interest to the city like Jubilee park which was a gift to the citizens of Jamshedpur after it had been in business for 50 years.  The Tata Steel Zoological Park is also tucked into a corner of this park. It is well kept and has a safari park aside that visitors can drive through while animals roam uncaged and free.

Dimna Lake is settled in against the foot of the Dalma hills.  This stunning lake is an artificial reservoir and one of the main sources of the cities drinking water.  It is also worth noting for its facilities for jet skiing, rowing and water scooting.

There is a stunning structure just outside of Jubilee Park that is known as the Russi Mody Centre for Excellence.  Designed by the famous architects Hafeez Contractor it is home to many of the professional associations of Jamshedpur. Be sure to visit it while on your tour in Jamshedpur.
