They year 1936 saw the inception of the Jim Corbett Park, which was formed as India’s first National Park. It was initially known as Hailey National Park and later was renamed the Ramganga National Park. It was in the year 1957 that it was finally named after Jim Corbett (1875-1955), the well known British tiger hunter. While he initially killed man-eating tigers and was therefore praised by the locals, in later years he preferred to capture these wild animals in their natural glory, and his work as achieved immortality.
