Uttarakhand – Travel to Uttarakhand – Tour to Uttarakhand
Bengal tiger, India

Reminders and remnants of the British Raj era there is a lot to do in this little state.

Home of the possible is Uttarakhand, incorporating high hills, holy rivers, and Ashrams. Covered in rolling forest hills, capped in white 6000m peaks, waterfalls, lakes and glaciers, this little state in India is not wanting for natural beauty.

Many head here to take yoga classes at an ashram in Rishikesh and white water raft down the Ganges or trek in the shadow of the Himalayas.  Pilgrims come to ancient temples near the beginning of the holy rivers Ganges and Yamuna, and devotees come to take offerings, known as Puja on the Ghats at Haridwar.  There are places to sit back and relax like the hill stations that date back to the raj era or you could even go on a high adrenaline hunt for tigers in the Corbett tiger reserve or Rajaji national park armed with your camera if you get the timing right and with a little luck this could be the place, opportunities abound here.  And clearly it is one of India’s richest regions for travelers.

Temples and Pilgrimages in Uttarakhand

The Char Dham Yatra is considered the most scared pilgrimage for Hindus and is located in this state.  Known also as the Abode of the gods, Uttarakhand has many temples and thousands of pilgrims travel here each year.  Many people outside of Hinduism also travel here for the picturesque nature.  Gangotri temple, Yamunotri temple, Kedarnath temple, and Badrinath Dham temple constitute the other major temples here and when travelling between then you will enjoy getting to see much of Uttarakhand.

Ramnagar is the main entry point to this park and with the change to see tigers in the wild it is well worth planning a trip here armed with your camera.
