History of Bikaner

A descendant of the founder of Jodhpur named Rao Bhikaji founded Bikaner in 1488. According to a legend, Rao Bhikaji was one among the five sons of Rao Jodhji and once after his father passed an insensitive remark on him, he left his home and decided to establish his own kingdom. He found his kingdom towards the north of Jodhpur and with the help of 100 cavalry horses and 500 soldiers; he launched his kingdom on 84 villages.
