People want to have perfect vacations, and perfect vacations often mean perfect vacation spots. It is not easy to find the perfect vacation spot, most especially if the source of your information would be the Internet. Most, if not all, of the popular destinations found online would be overflowing with tourists during the travel season. It's a good thing that Havelock is still in a pristine state even though it is advertised on the internet. History of Havelock Not much is known of this island, other than that it is named after a British general who helped quell a rebellion in India. He fought the rebels against impossible odds and won, just do die of stress and dysentery towards the end of the campaign. His victories were well celebrated, and he was made baron and promoted to major general. The sad portion of this story is that he heard that he was made baron right before he died, and he never lived to hear that he was promoted. To this day several streets and avenues in the United Kingdom bear the name of Havelock. Tourism in Havelock One reason why not much people travel to Havelock could be due to the fact that it is not easily accessible. The nearest airport is on a different island named Port Blair. From this island one can easily get a two hour ferry to Havelock, and then hire a rickshaw from the pier to whichever point in the island. There are a number of beaches available on the island, some of them with names while the others are just numbered. The difference from one beach to the other though would simply be the location, and perhaps the accommodations. As for the beaches, the coast is clean and the water is clear, perfect for swimming and relaxing in the sand. Beaches of Havelock The best known beach on the island would be Radha Nagar Beach. This was the beach that was named the best beach in Asia way back in 2004. It has been maintained since then, and many people come to relax and reaffirm the title that it was given. One reason it is favored is the state of the water, which is as clean and clear as it can be. People are able to swim around and see the bottom of the ocean clearly as if they were looking through a glass window. Another favorite is the Hathi Dera beach. Behind the resort lies a forest where elephants are seen roaming freely. Again, the water is clean and the air is crisp. Every traveler who arrives has a hard time leaving because of the beauty of the place. Havelock is one of the islands untouched by civilization, and so many are able to enjoy its beauty. Every person has to travel to Havelock at least once in his or her life in order to know what peace and beauty really is. |
