History Of Kota

A tour to Kota is not complete without some knowledge of its valour and gallant past. Its heroic tale has origins from the 12th century when it was ruled by the local tribal chief Rao Deva. He was also the founder of nearby Bundi and Hadoti. Some centuries later, Kota became the target of the Mughals and in 1631, the Mughal emperor tasked the son of Rao Ratan Singh (the current ruler then) to reign over Kota which by then had already been the battlefield for numerous confrontations.

With the rule of the many glorious dynasties, notable ones include the Rajput emperors, having been the fortress for mighty rulers, Kota is now a treasure house of remarkable historic treasures- clearly evident in the opulent palaces and stoic fortresses once prominent battle players and are now popular tour attractions.
