Dating back to the early ages, it was in 1956 when Simlipal Park was acknowledged as an “A tiger Reserve”. Due to the depletion of Crocodiles, in 1979 “Mugger crocodile scheme “was implemented. In 1994, Indian Government declared the park as “A Biosphere Reserve”.

The Park experiences a tropical monsoon climate. The temperature rises to maximum of 40°C and drops to a minimum of 14°C. Monsoon showers between the months of June and September.
